Now we do have a 'homestead moat' in Cropredy and it would certainly be interesting to follow up by some careful survey work the arrangement of buildings and earthworks from our own moated site. I wonder if the buildings shown here from the eighteenth century represent a shift in occupation westwards to a more convenient spot - drier and closer to the road.
