Dr. Stephen
Wass, operating as 'Polyolbion Archaeology' has an M.A. in Historical
Archaeology from the University of
Leicester gained during work with the National Trust on a major
archaeological survey of Farnborough
Park,
Warwickshire and a D. Phil. from the University of Oxford,based on the
extraordinary
seventeenth century 'theme park' in the gardens around Hanwell
Castle. He is also an accredited full member of the Chartered
Institute for Archaeologists (MCIfA) and an elected Fellow of the
Society of Antiquaries (FSA). He is currently developing a new
programme to investigate the park at Broughton Castle in association with
the Banbury Historic Society.
Stephen specialises in landscape archaeology and particularly
historic gardens and is
available for landscape appraisals and the recording of gardens, parks
and associated structures, particularly those connected with the
management of water. In addition he undertakes small scale
evaluations, watching briefs and
archaeological surveys. He has lead a number of
community based archaeology projects and as a qualified teacher he is
also able
to offer advice to schools on teaching archaeology and can lead
projects with an archaeological focus.
